Utah’s contemporary culture extends beyond UMOCA’s white walls and into the community.

As part of our efforts to foster local artistic vision and output, UMOCA offers multiple resources and programs for local artists through an Artists-in-Residence program, as well as galleries dedicated exclusively to local artists working in Utah and our artists-in-residence. We bring contemporary art to a wider and more diverse audience through community collaborations and initiatives, along with the Art Truck, the only traveling art education exhibition in Utah.

UMOCA’s award-winning educational programs offer opportunities to engage not only in hands-on art making activities but also in an exploration of the role of art in their lives and the life of our community.

Our educational programs range anywhere from family art-making projects to in-depth workshops with art professionals to tours designed to meet our museum visitors’ needs. Throughout, we encourage exploration into what it means to exist in today’s world through art that inspires imagination, stimulates thought, and transforms society.
