Utah’s contemporary culture extends beyond UMOCA’s white walls and into the community.

As part of our efforts to foster local artistic vision and output, UMOCA offers multiple resources and programs for local artists through an Artists-in-Residence program and gallery, as well as a gallery dedicated exclusively to local artists working in Utah. We bring contemporary art to a wider and more diverse audience through community collaborations and initiatives, along with the Art Truck, the only traveling contemporary art education exhibition in Utah.

UMOCA’s award-winning education programs invite curiosity and offer opportunities to engage not only in hands-on art-making activities, but also in an exploration of the role of art in our lives and our community.

Programs range from family art-making projects to in-depth workshops with art professionals to tours designed to meet our museum visitors’ needs. Throughout, we encourage conversations about what contemporary artistic expression means to the individual and the community.
