Out Loud: Ostracized & Masked Exhibition Schedule
UMOCA | MAY 24 – JUL 6
What does it mean to be ostracized, excluded, marginalized?
What does it mean to be masked, cover, or otherwise hide oneself?
This exhibition, organized as part of the Out Loud program, which offers support and a community to LGBT+ Youth, explores identity , mostly through portraiture or through visual interrogations of oppressive systems.
LGBT+ youth often find themselves as *other*, and this mark of difference, assigned by the larger society, can cause distortions of self and fogged realities, leading many to either mask themselves or to be excluded.
Through the process of art making, Ostracized & Masked, seeks to open a space for dialogue, and, as a collective group, to speak, to be seen, and to unmask.
The work will also be exhibited at the following places:
Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center | JUL 12 – 15
Sugar Space Arts Warehouse | JUL 28 – AUG 11
Mestizo Coffee House | AUG 13 – 31
