Mural Artists Wanted

Squatters Craft Beers and the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art (UMOCA) are seeking local artists to participate in a mural project celebrating Squatters 25th Anniversary.

The theme of the mural will be “25 Years of Beer” and will be painted on the east side of the Squatters Pub Brewery downtown (147 West Broadway 300 South, Salt Lake City, UT 84101). The lower portion of the wall will be divided into 4 equal 340 sq. ft. sections and the chosen artists will select the section that they would like to paint. Materials will be generously provided by Layton Construction.

Mural painting can begin as soon as July 28th and must be completed by July 5.
Previous experience with large scale mural projects preferred, but not required. The four chosen artists will all receive a stipend and one participating artist will be chosen by Squatters customers to have their winning mural transformed into an anniversary beer label and anniversary retail.

How To Apply //
UMOCA asks interested artists to apply through (an online portfolio application website). Artists may submit up to 10 images of previous work in JPEG format along with a description of the work and a proposal for their mural (mockup of proposal). Mural proposals require a Squatters beer element: one or more of Squatters 100+ beers produced in the past 25 years; portraits of the founding partners Peter Cole or Jeff Polychronis; beer elements such as grain, hops, water, or malt; brewery elements such as kettles, fermentation tanks, brewers boots, brewers oars, kegs, bottle caps, et; pub classic food fare; Squatters “S”; or the number “25”.

Selected artists will also need to provide a digital version of their mural, that if selected by the Squatters customers as the winning mural, will be used for the 25th Anniversary beer label and retail items. There is an application fee of $10.  If you have any questions concerning the application process or the project please contact Jared Steffensen at

Deadline for submissions is June 24, 2014
The selected artists will be notified by Jun 26
