Specific Dates: Early/Mid January – Mid/Late April
Hours/Days per week: Varies, typically 8-12 hours a week.
- Create and execute print-ready layouts for advertising and event marketing including, but not limited to: brochures, posters and postcards based on templates and graphic standards.
- Collaborate with the marketing director to develop new ideas into viable design concepts and template.
- Optimize and create graphics for the web using Photoshop.
- Document various events at the Museum, by video and still photography, as needed, including: Panels and talks, Openings, Artwork and Various educational programs.
- Upload the files onto our servers and maintain a clear and consistent file structure. Must be willing to sign a release agreeing that all images taken of UMOCA related events over the course of internship are the property of the Museum.
- Equipment will be provided, but the intern is welcome to use their own.\
- Intern may use designed collateral produced during their internship with UMOCA for self-promotion, but may not reproduce or sell images of art work or said collateral.
Candidate must be proficient with the Adobe Creative Suite: InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop (movie editing knowledge is a plus) as well as an ability to use a digital camera and camcorder. Your work must show a good understanding of color, lighting, composition and design principles, and you must also have an independent, creative spirit that wants to learn from hands-on experience.
Hours can also be split with Gallery Attending and Visitor Services Internships if the candidate needs more hours for credit than are available with design and documentation projects.
