Pyrography 1Eleanor Scholz’s projects are an exploration of pattern and detail and use pyrography (wood burning) to create intricate, meditative abstractions. These pieces connect to an underlying fascination with design and embrace the compulsion to fill space with repetitive details. Along with an exploration of the subconscious, her work also deals with issues of the spiritual impulse in a largely secular and spiritually ambiguous society. Scholz’s designs are highly intricate, with clear inspirations from the mandala, a spiritual symbol used in Buddhist and Hindu religions that represents the universe.  Website>
